Hey there fellow pyjama lovers. I’m Sonam Kapoor Bhatt, technically I am the founder of Nidra, but this brand wouldn’t have come this far without the inspiration I received from a few prominent people in my life.

My love affair with pyjamas started when I was kid. My family have been running a nightwear business for women in the Middle East for over 50 years. Growing up I was constantly exposed to several conversations around fabrics, laces and design and always felt very inspired. 

Coming back home in the evening, getting showered and slipping into a nice pair of pyjamas was a non-negotiable part of my daily ritual, I really looked forward to it and still do. As I got older I realised that pyjamas are essential to my personal wellbeing as I associate them with downtime. I've always been a good sleeper and I believe a lot of that has to do with what I wear to bed and how it makes me feel.

I was born in London and that is where I grew up and still live. Both my parents were born in India and moved to the UK when they were teenagers. Growing up I always felt a strong connection to India. We visited India very often. I loved everything about India and that hasn't changed. I still visit very regularly and now thanks to Nidra my number of visits have multiplied. India is a vibrant country rich in culture, heritage and colour. There is colour in everything, from the festivals to the average woman's daily attire. The bold colours and aesthetics have always been a source of inspiration and are reflected in our pyjamas. We just love happy and vibrant prints. I design our pyjamas from my little home in Marlyebone, London but they are brought to life in Noida, India.

I wanted to design nightwear that brings joy to other women. In 2023 my husband recognised my passion for pyjamas and keen eye for textiles and encouraged me to launch my own brand. After a tad bit of convincing I began the journey and it’s been a great one so far. I really wanted to create a brand that embodies the joy that a good pair of pyjamas can bring.

In this fast paced stressful world, we all need a constant that will help us unwind, rest and sleep well for an energetic next day. My aim is to let Nidra be the best sleeping partner. Thank you for supporting our journey, we hope that our sleepwear bring you rest, relaxation and peace of mind.
